With a refreshing new sound, MarthaGunn are the indie rock band on everybody's lips. But, as well as being a hotly tipped new music entry - they're also five best mates.

After releasing their debut EP "Caught Up & Confused" in August, the band have dropped a new single, "Nowhere To Run" - written by Humphrey (the band's guitarist), a departure from the band's usual routine of Abi (the lead singer) writing all of the songs. In our interview, Abi said that when she first heard the song she "absolutely loved it" and was able to personally connect to it immediately.

So, who are MarthaGunn? Abi (lead singer), Humphrey (lead guitarist), Max (guitar), Ally (bass) and Frankie (drums) complete the line-up. But, what's in a name?

It was Abi's Dad who suggested the band name! As one of her ancestors went by the name Martha Gunn and was famous in Brighton for "dipping people - especially royal people - in the sea for spiritual healing". She was very well known during the 1700s and was even given access to the royal kitchens by the Prince of Wales at the time! So, MarthaGunn became the name.

Even though the band keep coming non-stop with new music, even more is on the way and 2021 is set to be a busy one for the five-piece!
