Over the past few years, British indie-rock band YONAKA have rapidly risen to become one of the UK's brightest stars.

The four piece – consisting of lead singer Theresa, guitarist George, bassist and keyboardist Alex and drummer Robert – broke through in 2019 after their debut album “Don’t Wait ‘Til Tomorrow” debuted in the UK Top 40 charts. The album, featuring bold vocals and a consistently unrelenting performance by the band, acted as a beaming light of the band’s potential future.

After taking a break during 2020 to work on new music, at the start of this year YONAKA announced new music: the angry and energetic “Seize The Power” – a reminder that this is a band not to be underestimated.

With their new mixtape – also titled “Seize The Power” – out now, YONAKA are on a mission to get people feeling again. If fans of the band’s debut album thought the band possessed a lot of energy, this mixtape takes it up a notch. As a listener, you can’t help but feel strong and empowered; the band’s mission being to encourage you to fulfil your mission.

And with plans to support Nothing But Thieves on tour later this year, YONAKA aren’t done yet. Every indication points towards the fact that this really is only the start…

YONAKA sat down with Rhiannon Nevada for an in-depth interview discussing new music, live music and a whole lot more.
