We don’t always get to say this, so when we do we really mean it: This artist is behind some of your favourite songs.

Shy Carter is seeing success with his artist project – which includes millions-plus streaming hits “Beer With My Friends” and “Good Love”, but to set the scene, it’s worth noting the hits that he hasn’t performed.

Those include Charlie Puth’s double platinum hit “One Call Away”, Sugarland’s genre-defining single “Stuck Like Glue”, Jessie Reyez’s iconic “Figures” and Kane Brown’s “Heaven”.

So, the guy can write… but wow can be sing! Whilst his roots in jazz, R&B and soul has led to some of pop’s biggest singles, his gift for storytelling has led to a career in the genre best-known for four chords and the truth: country music. On his debut album “The Rest of Us”, Shy introduces us to a world of music that is deeply personal to him – from the unflagging spirit of “Good Love” to the party vibes of “Beer With My Friends”.

Shy Carter sat down with Madeleine Molly to talk about performing in London at C2C, writing some of his famous songs and why he decided to embark on his own artist project.
